Civil Rights Commission and co-founded Humanities Montana. Together with her sister, Montana State University librarian Lucille Smith Thompson, she worked to publish The Negro in Montana:a compilation of Montana black history resources. She and her sister, Lucile Smith Thompson, created Negro in Montana page bibliography of newspaper articles called “The Negro in Montana: ” Jacob’s own story stretches all the way to Monrovia Author: Kristen Inbody.
She spoke out against segregation in Great Falls at a time when it was unpopular to do so. Together with her sister, Lucille Smith Thompson, she also worked to document the history of African Americans in the state, an effort that resulted in the publication of The Negro in Montana, A Selective Bibliography.
